Inside of flyer

Hi! I’m Maxy! I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

I never “went crazy”. My life didn’t end when I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In fact, that’s when it go lots better.

Will you ever go crazy?

Not possible, because there’s nowhere to go. Look real close, and you’ll see. There’s no “crazy” vs. “sane”. There’s only good people, each with our own problems: mental, emotional, or whatever. Maybe we get depressed sometimes. Maybe we think thoughts we don‘t really want to think or do things we don’t really want to do. And that’s true about each and every one of us.

I never “went crazy”. I had bipolar genes long before I was born. I inherited them. My bipolar genes don’t make me a bad person.

Little by little, my bipolar genes made my brain get sick, the same way diabetic genes make some people get diabetic. Then I started taking medicine, and now I’m a lot better. I’m so glad I was diagnosed!

Only a few people know I’ve been diagnosed mentally ill, because I’m just — people, part of the human family. I don’t walk different or talk different. I’m the same as you, a person with loves and fears and hopes and joys.

All of us people are in this world together. Let’s get together and help each other feel better and be happier.

Don’t limit your love!

Don’t cut our human family into “crazy” and “sane”. There’s no such division. There are no “manic-depressives”. There are no “schizophrenics” either. We’re all just people who need each other’s love.

I never “went crazy”, and neither will you.

Let’s all live together.

Let’s all love together.

Back of flyer: What Is Mental Illness?

Mental Illness Is Not:

acting "funny"
demonic possession
living an evil or trauma-filled life
having a "weak" mind that can't cope

Mental Illness Is:

a medical problem that starts at conception
an inherited vulnerability to life stressors
a low stress tolerance level that you're born with
and a chemical imbalance in the nervous system

Mental illness is a disease like any other.

Don’t force behavior!
Change attitudes.
